How to Apply
All applications must be submitted through ERA (Electronic Recruitment Application) to be considered.
Here are some tips and tutorials for submitting an online application.
Do’s and Don’ts when completing job application
Do take the time to read all the instructions.
Do ensure that your application contains accurate information: Misspellings, typing errors, or putting wrong date can make a big difference and make you disqualified.
Do focus on the essential requirements of the position that you are applying for and list your relevant experiences. Also, be specific. We cannot assume your experience based on your job title or the duration of your employment. Application screening is solely based on what you provide in the application.
When stating duties and responsibilities, DO NOT write in company jargon or acronyms and DO use plain language.
Do list the required languages for the position that you are applying for (including Korean language). Failure to do so will automatically disqualify your application.
HR will ONLY review the information provided within ERA, not on a resume or CV. DO NOT include your personal resume or CV separately. DO address each required qualification within ERA.
Failure to provide a complete, thorough and detailed application will result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
With the exception of certain Appointment Eligible Family Members of mission employees, all other categories of candidates must have the required work and residency permits at the time that they apply for local positions in Korea. (For more information (i.e., what is an EFM, USEFM, AEFM, MOH, etc?) and for additional employment considerations, please visit the following link: https://careers.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/VA-Definitions-and-Additional-Employment-Considerations.pdf)
Local position vacancies are advertised inside and outside concurrently. The recruitment process is competitive, and it is essential that candidates address the selection criteria (required qualifications) with specific and comprehensive information. When equally qualified, candidates will be given preference in the following order:
- 1.AEFM / USEFM who is a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran
- 2.AEFM / USEFM
- 3.FS on LWOP and CS with reemployment rights
