On November 4, Consul David J. Jea and U.S. Embassy Energy Attaché Kerry Cheung visited Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and Ulsan Advanced Energy Technology R&D Center of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER). UNIST Vice President Lee Jai-young and Dr. Song Hyun-kon highlighted the school’s education program and advanced R&D projects that, despite its short history, have catapulted UNIST to become one of Korea’s most accomplished and respected technical schools. At KIER, Chief Researcher Kim Dong-suk and colleagues provided a tour of the laboratory facilities where cutting-edge technological developments in the fields of batteries and solar cells are contributing to the center’s ambitious objective to reduce global temperature by one degree.
