Learning About Korean History and Culture in Gyeongju, Home of Many UNESCO World Heritage Sites

On September 27, Consul Nolan Barkhouse joined the U.S. Embassy’s U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) team in for a visit to Gyeongju, ancient capital of the Silla Dynasty.  Consul and the FAS team toured the Bulguksa Temple and the Seokguram Grotto, two prominent UNESCO World Heritage sites in Gyeongju.  At Bulguksa Temple, they had an opportunity to learn more about the temple’s history as well as the uniqueness of the Gyeongju area from Team Leader Kim Young Hee of Bulguksa’s Temple Stay Team.
