Consul and Former Ambassador Explore the History and Future of Busan
On September 13, U.S. Consul Nolan Barkhouse accompanied former U.S. Ambassador to Korea Kathleen Stephens, who currently serves as President of the Korea Economic Institute of America (KEI), to visit sites in Busan that help encapsulate both the city’s history and its future. They visited the Busan Modern History Museum, which is currently undergoing a major renovation, and used to be the site of the former U.S. Consulate in Busan. At the Busan Citizens Park, which was once the U.S. Army Camp Hialeah, they learned more about U.S.-Busan history, before glimpsing the City’s future when they received a briefing on Busan’s bid to host World Expo 2030 and redevelop the North Port area.
