On September 3, U.S. Consul Nolan Barkhouse participated in the opening ceremony of Busan Biennale 2022, a biennial international modern art exhibition. This year’s Biennale focused on the main themes of “migration,” “labor and women,” “ecosystem of the city,” and “technological change and placeness.” The “rising wave” in the exhibition title signifies the dynamic modern history and transformations of host city Busan, including the people who have flowed out of this city over time, as well as those who have flowed into it. The art works, the host city, and this exhibition’s themes all help audiences appreciate global interconnectedness in the modern world.
