Deputy Chief of Mission Marc E. Knapper of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul visited Pohang, Gyeongju, and Busan on August 24 – August 26, accompanied by Consul Dae B. Kim of the U.S. Consulate in Busan. He toured the POSCO plant in Pohang and was briefed on its facilities and production capacity; he toured the U.S. Marine Corps Installation Camp Mujuk in Pohang and conferred with the installation commander; and he toured the Shin Kori Nuclear Power Site in Gijang-Gun, Busan.
