OAA helps identify—and works to reduce—foreign trade barriers and other practices and policies that hinder U.S. agricultural exports.
2023 Roundtable on DPRK Agriculture
On September 22, the Office of Agricultural Affairs (OAA) in U.S. Embassy Seoul hosted ’the 12th Roundtable Discussion on Agriculture in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’.

On July 27, 2023, Mark Dries, Agricultural Minister-Counselor of the U.S. Embassy Seoul, attended the “2023 Soy Food Master Awards” hosted by the U.S. Soybean Export Council’s (USSEC) Seoul office, and provided congratulatory remarks.

FAS Seoul Staff Visits Harim Iksan Plant
On July 21, 2023, Minister-Counselor Mark Dries and FAS staff visited the Harim Iksan Poultry facility, the largest poultry plant in Korea.

2023 International Eco-friendly Fuels Symposium
On July 11, 2023 the USDA Office of Agricultural Affairs Seoul, the U.S. Grains Council, and the Korea Automobile Journalists Association jointly hosted the 2023 “International Eco-friendly Fuels Symposium”. It was our first event in collaboration with the Korean automobile journalists and the largest iteration of the annual biofuels symposium to date, with more than 190 attendees.

FAS Seoul Participates in Nong Hyup (NH) Field Trip
On May 24, 2023, FAS Seoul staff (joined by some other members of the U.S. Embassy community) attended the “Give a Day for NH Farmers” tour program organized by the National Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (NACF).

FAS Outreach with Korean Regional Regulators
On a May 2-3, 2023, courtesy visit to Busan, FAS staff met with local Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and Korea Customs Service officials to discuss the region’s role as a major trade hub and exchange information on food import processes, supply chain, port operations, and trade statistics.
