Republic of Korea-U.S. Democracy and Governance Consultations
The United States and Republic of Korea held the first meeting of the ROK-U.S. Democracy and Governance Consultations (DCG) on October 15, 2021 in Seoul.
This is a direct result of the U.S.-ROK Summit in May and an opportunity to promote human rights and democracy at home and abroad. Thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Korea for hosting the inaugural DCG. Byron Tsao, U.S. Embassy Seoul’s Acting Minister Counselor for Political Affairs, talked about the importance of this event both regionally and globally.
“Discussing human rights issues can be uncomfortable, but it is also a source of strength and puts our democratic values on display as we work to bolster democracy in the Indo-Pacific and around the globe.” -Byron Tsao
