4 MINUTE READ
September 25, 2023

Location: Seoul: Gwanghwamun and surrounding areas

The Embassy would like to notify U.S. citizens of the planned military street parade associated with Korean Armed Forces Day on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Expect severe traffic congestion throughout Seoul, but especially along the planned parade route which terminates in Gwanghwamun Plaza – near the U.S. Embassy. Sejong-daero will be operating with only one north-bound lane open from 1400 – 1800, with the expectation of complete road closure from 1600 – 1700.  The parade is expected to contain a large number of military vehicles and displays of weapons and aircraft. Please do not be alarmed.

ACTIONS TO TAKE:

Plan for extreme delays in vehicle travel along the parade route. The Republic of Korea government recommends using public transportation on the afternoon of September 26. Public buses will also be affected by street closures and may not operate on all routes. For more information on planning your travel or attending the parade, please refer to the official website.
